Primary election is Tuesday, Feb. 21; Remember to bring ID
A primary election is scheduled Tuesday, Feb. 21, with area polls opening at 7 a.m.
Hudson School district voters will narrow a field of seven candidates to six for the April 3 spring election. The seven candidates are incumbents Brian Bell, Tom Holland and Barbara Van Loenen; challengers Elizabeth Bruch, John Burtis, Sandy Gehrke and Catherine Leaf. Voters may vote for up to three candidates.
One of the six candidates will be eliminated after the primary. The surviving six will battle for three positions in the April 3 election.
There are also primary races in County Supervisor Districts 14, 15 and 18. None of the districts are in the immediate Hudson area, but do involve towns and municipalities near Hudson.

All polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Voters are reminded that Wisconsin has new voter identification requirements. A photo identification will be required to vote.
Polling locations are:
-—Districts 1 & 5, City Hall, 505 Third Street.
-—Districts 3 & 4, United Methodist Church, 1401 Laurel Avenue.
-—Districts 2 & 6, St. Croix County Govt. Center, 1101 Carmichael Road.
Reminder of new voter ID laws
St. Croix County Register of Deeds Beth Pabst reminds citizens that Wisconsin has new voter identification requirements for upcoming elections. A photo identification will be required to vote.
Wisconsin law requires the Department of Transportation to provide free ID cards to any individual who will be at least 18 years of age on the date of the next election and who requests a free ID for the purpose of voting. The regular fee is $28.

Due to the need to provide a birth certificate and other documents to receive a DOT-issued ID, individuals should start the process of obtaining a statutory identification well in advance of an election at which they wish to vote. There is a fee for obtaining a birth certificate.
