Northland Liquors opens at a second location in Hudson
Last week the newest liquor store in Hudson opened its doors. Northland Liquors opened a second Hudson location in the Southside Center, 1920 Crestview Drive (former location of Mr. Movies).
The original Hudson store opened in Plaza 94 on the north side of the I-94 in 2004. That location will remain open. Both are owned by SSG Corporation.
“We decided to expand when more liquor licenses became available,” said Sue Zappa, vice president of operations for SSG. “We applied for it and received it.”
The new location sports an open airy feel and the largest and first beer cave in city of Hudson.
“We want to keep the open feeling,” said Zappa. “Many of the new customers have said they like the openness of it.”
The new location is 2,400 square feet which includes a beer cave of just over 500 square feet. The cave features both wine and beer including craft, premium and imports. It also features a section where customers can build their own six-packs, mixing and matching varieties.
The cave features an air curtain instead of a door and uses LED lights and an energy efficient cooling system, making it a green system.
“We are trying to meet the needs of the most people,” said Zappa. “We have a good selection of craft beers and imports as well as wines and liquors.”
Northland Liquors held a soft opening on Feb. 9. The store will be managed by Janell Klatt, who also manages the Holiday Convenience Store and Gas Station located in Southside Center. Some employees will be crossed trained so they may work at either location. Both enterprises are owned by SSG Corporation.
“We are still planning a large grand opening at a later date,” said Zappa. Along with that customers can look for taste testing events to come.
Northland Liquors Southside Center location will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. For more information you may call (715) 386-3857.
